Who Can Enter:
Only Youth ages 7-17 may submit
There will be 3 age groups from which multiple winners will be selected: 7-10, 11-13 and 14-17

Deadlines:
All entries must be received by email or post on or no later than February 17, 2012.
Entries may be mailed to the Museum at 918 H Street SE, Auburn WA 98002 or a word doc or pdf may be emailed to rburrum@auburnwa.gov  subject line: Poetry
Winning entries will be notified by March 9,  2012

Criteria:
Only 1 entry per person
Entries must be between 10 and 100 words in length
Entries must contain:  youth’s full name, age, school name, home address, phone number and/or email address

A winning submission will be related to the topic of best friends, will be submitted by the contest deadline, will not contain vulgarity or inappropriate language, and will be written solely by the youth participant.

Winners will be selected by a diverse panel of judges.

Winning entries will be displayed with the Museum’s temporary exhibit Best Friends on March 19- April 15, 2012, and featured in a press release sent to regional media outlets

Only winning entries will be notified.

Please retain a copy of your poem as no poems will be returned.

First place winners of each age category will receive $30, second place winners of each age category will receive $15 

Best Friends Youth Poetry Competition
January 1- February 17th
What is a best friend?  Is a best friend a person, an animal or a favorite toy?  What makes best friends so great?  The White River Valley Museum wants to know more about what you think friendship is and what the term “best friends” means to you!
Enter the Museum’s Best Friends poetry competition for a chance to have your poetry displayed alongside those shown in our display, Best Friends, Antique Images of Animals and Their People , win money, and have your poetry read by 100’s of people!
