Weavers Spirit Power, Antique to Contemporary Coast Salish Weaving
August 20 to November 9
Despite the fact that most people envision totem poles and masks, the highest form of traditional Native art from the Puget Sound region was weaving, both basketry and wool. Guest curator and master weaver, Susan Pavel will bring us a collection of weavings from Northwest artists, many of them Native Americans. Wearing ceremonial robes, tunics, bags, and blankets, in sheep wool, mountain goat wool, in natural tones or died with native plantsthe indigenous weavings of our region are beautiful.

A juried show of two-dimensional artwork by Northwest artists will become a regular pre-holiday event at this museum. Help us make our first Small Works show a big success. All artwork will be for sale, none over $300, or exceeding 24 x 24 inches in size.
