Heritage Outreach Kits
Our Heritage Outreach Kits have been created to align with the Washington State Classroom Based Assessment (CBA) Projects. Each kit contains artifacts, photographs, and other primary documents representing the White River Valley’s unique and diverse cultural heritage. Easy to use lesson plans and project models aim to engage and excite students in learning with objects. The cost of renting an Outreach Kit is $60 per month and the renter is responsible for transporting the kit to and from the Museum.

Westward Migration and Pioneer Life

Grades 3rd - 5th
Students will learn about life on the Washington frontier via complete lesson plans that engage through primary documents, photographs and artifacts.

Kit includes: 43 Star Flag, Sad Iron, Flint and Steel, Candle Mold,
Powder Horn, Military Cup, Photographs, Historic Games, and more.


Japanese Immigration

Grades 3rd - 5th
Students will learn about the lives and cultures of Japanese immigrants in the White River Valley in the early 1900’s via complete lesson plans that engage through primary documents, photographs and artifacts.

Kit includes: Fan, Kimono, Berry Crates, Bronze Buddha
Statue, primary documents, Photographs and much more.



Coast Salish Culture

Grades 4th - 8th
Students will learn about traditional Coast Salish culture: the importance of salmon, historic treaties, Native art and craft, and more via complete lesson plans that engage through photographs and artifacts.

Kit includes: Fish Club, Drum, Glass bead necklace,
Cedar Bark, Clappers, Photographs, and much more.



Japanese American Internment

Grades 8th -12th
Student will learn about Japanese American Internment while tracing one family’s internment experience via complete lesson plan including photographs, newspaper articles and primary documents.

Kit includes: Evacuation Baggage Tags, Housing
Assignments, Maps, Photographs, and much more
