MUSEUM ANNUAL FUND DRIVE UNDERWAY
The White River Valley Museum has started its annual fundraising drive with a goal this year of $7,500. This annual drive equals about 2.5 percent of the museums $310,000 operating budget. Other sources are a Museum Services Agreement with the City of Auburn, gift shop sales, memberships, sponsorships and admissions.
The Museum also raises all money required for special projects, such as building upgrades, and all preservation of the Mary Olson Farm.
Although generously supported by the city of Auburn, that support does not cover many of our operational costs, museum board president Larry Miller said in a fundraising letter sent to past donors. We have to raise over $10,000 a month to operate this gem of a museum our modest admission does not come close to meeting that goal.
The White River Valley Museum is located in the Auburn Community Campus at Les Gove Park, at 918 H Street SE. Hours are 12:00 Noon, to 4:00 PM, Wednesdays through Sundays, and by appointment for group tours and research. Admission is $2.00 for adults, $1.00 for children and seniors. Wednesdays are free for everyone. For more information call (253) 288-7433
