White River Valley Historical Society to Elect 2007 Board

The annual meeting of the White River Valley Historical Society will be Dec. 20, 2006 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Muckleshoot Room of the White River Valley Museum. All members of the Society are invited to participate in the annual meeting. The Society is the not-for-profit corporation that operates the Museum and the Mary Olson Farm. This 17-member board is composed of individuals appointed by Mayor Lewis of the City of Auburn, and individuals elected by members of the Society. This board has managed the Museum since 1990 when the City/Society partnership was begun.

Leaving the Board are President Larry Miller, the newly appointed Assistant Chief of the Auburn Police Department, and Janice Nelson, member of the Auburn School Board. Jan Cavanaugh, Jean Farrington, Warren Kinggeorge and Michelle Marshman have been appointed to serve second terms. Jennifer Traufler, Executive Director of Special Student Services for the Auburn School District, and Boeing manager Lisa Scarff have been nominated to fill existing open seats.

Life-long Auburn resident and Service Manager for Scarff Motors, Gordy Nishimoto has been nominated to serve as Board President. Nominees for the other offices are Muckleshoot Oral Historian Warren Kinggeorge as Vice President, Columbia Bank Vice President Doug Hedger as Treasurer, and Retired Boeing Executive Ronnie Beyersdorf for Secretary.

The White River Valley Museum is located in the Auburn Community Campus at Les Gove Park, at 918 H Street SE. Hours are 12 Noon, to 4 PM, Wednesdays through Sundays, and by appointment for group tours and research. The Museum will be closed for the holidays from December 20 to January 2.
