Ladies Petticoat, c. 1900

The Dress Reform Movement championed comfortable, healthy clothes that allowed people to easily work, exercise, and travel. Reformers were especially critical of women’s long skirts with layers of petticoats because of how dirt and germs would be caught in them. Tight bodices and corsets were also targets of dress reformers.
