Crescent Ladies’ Bicycle, 1901

Bicycles gave women the freedom to travel alone faster and further than ever before - but letting an object sit between a woman’s legs was still seen as unseemly in public. Manufacturers began selling bicycles with frames that didn’t divide women’s skirts to appeal to a less daring clientele.
